Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming strategy game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's 2020 hit, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by the part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles his initial vision for Herodom, a popular tower defense game.
Battledom introduces flexible RTS battle mechanics, allowing players to freely maneuver units across the battlefield. Players directly target enemies and manually control siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations further enhance the gameplay experience.
Players earn coins to recruit units, initially equipped with only basic weapons and no armor. However, extensive customization options allow players to equip units with a variety of weapons and armor pieces, impacting stats such as range, accuracy, defense, and attack power.
These items aren't found through exploration; instead, players must craft them within their village. Gathering resources like wood, leather, and coal is essential for crafting at the blacksmith, magician, or other village specialists.
Frenken is renowned for Herodom, which holds a 4.6 App Store rating. This game features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-themed battles. Players unlock new hairstyles, body types, crops, and animals for their farm as they progress.
iOS users can participate in the Battledom alpha test by downloading TestFlight. For updates and further information on this upcoming RTS-lite, follow Sander Frenken on X (formerly Twitter) or Reddit. His other games are also available on the App Store.
