The Bloodborne community's long-held desire for a remastered edition of the FromSoftware classic has reached fever pitch thanks to recent Instagram activity.
FromSoftware and PlayStation Fuel Bloodborne Remaster Hype
A Beloved Game Deserving a Modern Update
Bloodborne, the critically acclaimed 2015 RPG, remains a fan favorite, with many eager to revisit Yharnam on current-gen consoles. While no official announcement exists, recent Instagram posts from FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia featuring Bloodborne imagery have ignited a fresh wave of speculation.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three evocative images, each bearing the game's title and the hashtag "#bloodborne." These included depictions of Djura in Old Yharnam, the Hunter exploring Yharnam's heart, and the haunting Charnel Lane.
While this could simply be a nostalgic gesture, dedicated Bloodborne fans on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) are meticulously analyzing these images for any hidden clues hinting at a remaster. The timing is particularly noteworthy, given a similar post from PlayStation Italia on August 17th.
PlayStation Italia's post, translated, asked fans to choose their favorite iconic Bloodborne location, further fueling the anticipation. Comments ranged from nostalgic reminiscing to humorous pleas for a PC or next-gen console release.
The Hunt for a Modern Bloodborne Continues – Almost a Decade Later
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne boasts a fiercely loyal fanbase and widespread critical acclaim, frequently cited among the greatest video games ever created. Despite this, a sequel or remaster remains elusive.
The 2020 Demon's Souls remake, a project over a decade in the making, serves as both precedent and cautionary tale for Bloodborne fans. While hopeful, many fear a similarly lengthy wait, especially as the game approaches its tenth anniversary.
Fueling the speculation further, Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki, in a February Eurogamer interview, acknowledged the potential advantages of a remaster on modern hardware, emphasizing increased accessibility for a wider audience.
However, Miyazaki's comments offer only limited reassurance. Unlike Elden Ring, FromSoftware doesn't hold the publishing rights to Bloodborne; Sony retains full control. In subsequent interviews, Miyazaki has reiterated his inability to comment on the matter due to the IP's ownership.
The passionate Bloodborne community continues to eagerly await a remaster. Despite the game's success, its availability remains confined to the PS4. Whether the current speculation translates into a concrete announcement remains to be seen.
