The latest Capcom Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase have brought a wealth of exciting updates for fans of Capcom's diverse game lineup. From a new story trailer and details on Open Beta 2 for Monster Hunter Wilds to fresh information on Onimusha: Way of the Sword and the remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, Capcom has provided a lot to look forward to. Additionally, release dates for Capcom Fighting Collection 2 and character additions to Street Fighter 6 have been announced, keeping the anticipation high among gaming enthusiasts.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gets a Bunch of New Details

PlayOnimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for release in 2026, promises an exhilarating return to the beloved franchise. The development team is focusing on three key areas: crafting compelling characters, introducing a fresh protagonist, and designing engaging enemies. The game will immerse players in the historical setting of Kyoto, featuring real-life locations to enhance authenticity. The developers aim to deliver the "ultimate sword fighting action" experience, emphasizing the visceral thrill of combat.

Set during the Edo Period, players will battle against evil creatures called Genma. The protagonist, equipped with an Oni Gauntlet, will harness its power to defeat enemies and absorb their souls. While challenging, the game is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for action fans across various skill levels.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Is Getting a Remastered Version in 2025

PlayThe remastered version of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, originally released in 2002, is set to launch in 2025. This remaster aims to bridge the gap for fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of Onimusha: Way of the Sword in 2026.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 to Feature Flagship Monster Arkveld

PlayThe second Open Beta for Monster Hunter Wilds is on the horizon, introducing significant changes from the first beta. Players will have the opportunity to confront the new flagship monster, Arkveld, in an advanced quest designed to challenge their skills. Other features include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, and online options like Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode. Private Lobbies allow for private play with friends, while Online Single Player mode offers solo play with the option to switch to multiplayer via an S.O.S. Flare.

Data from the first Open Beta can be transferred to this new test, and returning elements include the Character Creator, Story Trial, and the Doshaguma hunt. Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28, with the second Open Beta, featuring Cross-Play, scheduled for:

  • Thursday, February 6 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 9 at 6:59pm PT
  • Thursday, February 13 at 7pm PT to Sunday, February 16 at 6:59pm PT
PlayParticipants in the Open Beta will be able to transfer their character data to the full game, but not their progression. As a bonus, they will receive a special Pendant for participating.

Monster Hunter Wilds Reveals Iceshard Cliffs and New Enemies Just Waiting to Be Fought

The Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase unveiled a new story trailer set in the frozen Iceshard Cliffs. This icy locale will be home to new enemies such as the quirky Wudwud known as Rove, the Hirabami - Leviathan, Nerscylla - Temnoceran, and the formidable Gore Magala. More details about the flagship monster, Arkveld, were also shared.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Launches on May 16

PlayCapcom Fighting Collection 2 is set to launch on May 16, 2025, featuring a lineup of classic fighting games including Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.

Street Fighter 6 Adds Fatal Fury's Mai on February 5
