There's still a glimmer of hope for Gandhi's inclusion in Civilization 7. This revelation came during an IGN interview with the game's lead designer, Ed Beach, on February 13, 2025. Beach suggested that while Gandhi may not be part of the initial release, his return as a DLC is a possibility, though it might take some time.
During the interview, Beach elaborated on the decision to omit certain civilizations and their leaders from the base game. "We haven't forgotten about anyone who's been in our game before," Beach stated. "There's a lot of discussion right now about the absence of Great Britain or England in our game."
The decision to exclude nations like Britain and India from the initial roster of Civilization 7 stemmed from the need to make room for new and exciting civilizations. "There are just too many popular choices, and we always want to introduce a few fresh ones that feel new and exciting to our players," Beach explained. "So, some things are getting left behind, but we're always considering the bigger picture when it comes to bringing leaders or civilizations back into the fold. There's hope for Gandhi, yet."
