The mobile strategy tower defense game, Code Geass: Lost Stories, is ceasing global operations, marking a swift end to its international run. Based on the popular Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion anime and manga, the game's Japanese counterpart will continue. Developed by f4samurai and DMM Games, published by Komoe, and based on Sunrise's manga, the game launched globally in September 2023, falling short of its first anniversary.
Closure Date:
Code Geass: Lost Stories will officially shut down on August 29th, 2024. Player accounts will become inaccessible after this date, and official global social media channels will also be deactivated. In-app purchases and new downloads are already unavailable. While the global version faced challenges, the game maintains a dedicated following in Japan.
Reasons for Closure:
The game, blending RPG, action, and tower defense elements within a beloved anime franchise, unfortunately failed to gain significant traction globally. While developers haven't explicitly stated the reasons, low download numbers and generally unfavorable reviews outside of Japan likely contributed to the decision. Many licensed anime gacha games struggle to maintain player bases beyond Japan due to lower spending habits in other regions.
Japanese players can still access the game via the Google Play Store. For more gaming news, check out our article on Sky: Children of the Light's Tournament of Triumph!
