Free Demo Debuts at Steam Next Fest

Guns Undarkness unveils a free demo at Steam Next Fest. Composer Shoji Meguro, known for Persona and Metaphor: ReFantazio, leads the project with Ghost in the Shell artist Ilya Kuvshino and rapper Lotus Juice, famous for Persona 3 contributions.
Meguro, a veteran at Atlus since 1995, crafted music for Shin Megami Tensei and Persona. In 2021, he transitioned to indie development while still composing for Atlus. His latest venture, a sci-fi stealth-action JRPG, is backed by Kodansha Game Creators Lab.
Unveiled at Indie Live Expo Winter 2021, Guns Undarkness secured funding through a successful 2022 Kickstarter. Its free demo arrives at Steam Next Fest on February 24, 2025, with early access planned later this year.
Blending Metal Gear Solid and Persona Vibes

Described on Steam as a “turn-based tactical JRPG inspired by Metal Gear Solid and Persona,” Guns Undarkness is set in a dystopian 2045. Players control a private military operative, embarking on missions with allies to unravel global mysteries and save humanity.
Gameplay splits into stealth and combat phases. In stealth mode, players navigate undetected, gaining battle advantages if unnoticed. Combat is turn-based, with strategic firearm use and character commands driving victories.
The Guns Undarkness demo offers 20 minutes of gameplay, introducing controls, combat mechanics, weapons, and early strategies. The full game, slated for Spring 2025 early access on PC, promises around 10 hours of playtime. No exact release date has been confirmed.
