Deltarune Update: Chapter 4 Nears Completion, but Release Remains Distant
Toby Fox, creator of Undertale, recently shared a progress update on Deltarune in his newsletter. While Chapter 4 is nearing completion, a release date for Chapters 3 and 4 (slated for simultaneous release on PC, Switch, and PS4) is still some time away.

Chapter 4 Status:
All maps and battles are finished in Chapter 4, but polishing remains. Fox noted minor improvements needed for cutscenes, battle balancing, visual enhancements, background work, and ending sequences for several battles. Despite this, he considers the chapter largely playable, having received positive feedback from testers.

Challenges and Upcoming Tasks:
The multi-platform and multilingual release presents significant challenges, particularly given this is the first major paid release since Undertale. Before launch, the team must:
- Test new functions
- Finalize PC and console versions
- Localize to Japanese
- Conduct thorough bug testing

Chapter 3 and Beyond:
Chapter 3 development is complete. Early work on Chapter 5 has even begun, with map creation and battle design underway.

The newsletter included teases: Ralsei and Rouxls dialogue, an Elnina character description, and a new item, GingerGuard. Fox confirmed Chapters 3 and 4 combined will be longer than Chapters 1 and 2.
While the wait continues, Fox anticipates a smoother release schedule for future chapters following the release of Chapters 3 and 4.
