A Decade in the Making
The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a long and complex process, marked by several delays spanning almost a decade. Development started in 2015, after Dragon Age: Inquisition, but was impacted by BioWare's focus on Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, shifting resources and talent away from the project—then known as "Joplin." Furthermore, initial design conflicts with the company's live-service strategy led to a complete development halt.
The project was revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison." After further development, it was officially announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before receiving its current title.
Despite these challenges, the wait is nearly over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Get ready, Thedas awaits!
