Indie studio We Are Muesli has exciting news for narrative game enthusiasts: their latest project, In Their Shoes, is slated for release in 2026 on both mobile and PC platforms. This game has already caught the attention of the gaming community, earning a nomination for the prestigious independent and arthouse games awards ‘A MAZE. 2025’ in Berlin.
In Their Shoes: A Narrative Game that’s More About Listening
Set in the vibrant and contradictory city of Milan, In Their Shoes invites players to step into the lives of seven unique characters. The game is structured around 49 short interactive stories, each known as a Moment, which provides a snapshot of a character's day. These Moments are designed to immerse you in the characters' hesitations, daily routines, and the rapid decisions they face. Some Moments unfold slowly, allowing you to delve into the characters' thoughts, while others demand quick responses, reflecting the unpredictability of real life.
Unlike conventional narrative games, In Their Shoes offers a narrative that's intentionally fragmented. As you navigate through the game, you'll uncover 26 hidden biographical details for each character, piecing together their stories to form a rich tapestry of slice-of-life experiences.
While the Play Store page is yet to be launched, you can already explore the game's Steam page. For a sneak peek into what In Their Shoes has to offer, check out the announcement trailer below.
