Team Ninja has unleashed a substantial update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, boosting it to version 1.0.7.0 and introducing highly anticipated features like New Game Plus and Photo Mode.
This patch, promised in January to address community feedback, is now live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store).
New Game Plus lets players restart the game at any previously completed difficulty level, retaining their acquired weapons and Ninpo. However, these items will revert to level 1, and players can't directly select a higher difficulty via this mode.
A significant quality-of-life improvement allows players to hide their projectile weapon from view. This toggle is accessible within the Options menu under Game Settings ("Show Projectile Weapon").
Balance adjustments include HP reductions for enemies in Chapters 8 and 11, increased enemy counts in Chapters 13 and 14, and a damage buff to some of Ayane's attacks.
The patch also tackles numerous bugs, resolving high-performance PC control issues, game-breaking glitches in specific chapters, and more. A full breakdown is provided below.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a surprise January release during the Xbox Developer Direct, is a revamped version of the classic action title, powered by Unreal Engine 5 for enhanced visuals, new playable characters, and improved combat mechanics. IGN awarded it an 8/10, praising its visual improvements over Sigma 2 while acknowledging some balance tweaks.
