Relic Entertainment Announces Earth vs. Mars - A Fresh Take on Turn-Based Strategy
Relic Entertainment, renowned for Company of Heroes, is venturing into turn-based strategy with Earth vs. Mars - a compact, inventive title launching this summer on PC via Steam. The game pits Earth's defenders against a Martian invasion through unconventional biological warfare. Using the experimental Splice-O-Tron device, players create unique hybrid creatures like Squirrel-Cows and Cheetah-Flies to combat the alien threat, drawing inspiration from Advance Wars' tactical gameplay.
"For decades, Martians have secretly harvested Earth's biological resources," explains Relic. "Now they've launched a full-scale invasion, and humanity's survival depends on these genetically engineered hybrid forces battling advanced alien technology."
Game Features
The game offers:
- A 30+ mission single-player campaign chronicling Earth's resistance
- Online multiplayer with faction choice (Earth or Mars)
- VS Mode against adaptive AI opponents
- A comprehensive map editor for custom battles
Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell shares the studio's vision: "We're blending our strategic expertise with Advance Wars' accessibility while revisiting our creative roots. This project reflects our new dual focus - maintaining our RTS legacy while exploring innovative, smaller-scale projects to expand our creative horizons."
The game is now available for wishlisting on Steam as part of Relic's initiative to deliver more frequent, experimental titles alongside their established franchises.
