Sony Unveils Sleek Midnight Black PlayStation 5 Accessory Collection
Sony has unveiled a stylish new Midnight Black Collection for PlayStation 5, adding a touch of dark elegance to its lineup of accessories. The collection includes four premium peripherals: the DualSense Edge wireless controller, PlayStation Portal handheld remote player, Pulse Elite wireless headset, and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds.
All items, except the Pulse Elite headset, are priced at $199.99. The Pulse Elite headset will retail for $149.99.
Pre-orders begin January 16th, 2025, with a full launch on February 20th, 2025, exclusively through direct.playstation.com.
This announcement follows the excitement generated by CES 2025 and builds on Sony's history of offering diverse color options for its PS5 controllers, starting with the original white DualSense and expanding to include Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, Galactic Purple, and Chroma variants. The new Midnight Black collection offers a sophisticated alternative, appealing to gamers who prefer a darker aesthetic.
The Midnight Black DualSense Edge controller, a modern upgrade to the original black DualSense, includes a stylish black carrying case. The PlayStation Portal and Pulse Explore earbuds also receive the Midnight Black treatment. While the original Midnight Black Pulse 3D wireless headset launched at $99.99, the Pulse Elite model, with its own felt gray carrying case (alongside the earbuds' case), commands a higher price point of $149.99. The Pulse Explore earbuds, at $199.99, reflect the premium nature of their in-ear design.
Beyond the Midnight Black Collection, Sony continues to expand its range of themed DualSense controllers. Following the successful releases of controllers themed to God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a limited-edition Helldivers 2 DualSense controller is now available for pre-order, as announced in December 2024.
