To enhance the gameplay experience and elevate the popularity of underplayed characters like Storm and Black Widow, NetEase Games introduced significant balance adjustments to the heroes of Marvel Rivals in January, coinciding with the launch of Season 1.
Following these updates, Storm has experienced substantial improvements, resulting in a remarkable surge in her popularity and effectiveness. According to Rivals Meta, Storm now holds the top spot in win rate, marking a significant leap from her former standing on the hero selection list. In competitive mode, her win percentage has soared above 56%, and her pick rate has climbed to 16%. This is a stark contrast to her previous performance, where she barely registered a 1% pick rate, now surpassing heroes like Adam Warlock, Jeff, Spider-Man, Hela, Hulk, Magic, Iron Man, and many more.
Despite these shifts, the most popular character duo of the first season continues to be Cloak and Dagger. However, their win percentage has dipped below 49%. On the other end of the spectrum, Black Widow remains the least favored and least successful character in the game.
With hundreds of thousands of players engaging with the game, including its competitive mode, Marvel Rivals is witnessing growth. Achieving the Grandmaster title is a rare feat, attainable by only 0.1% of all players, despite the existence of the Celestial rank.
Reaching such lofty heights is no small task, but one player has achieved an extraordinary milestone. During the first season, this player reached Grandmaster without taking any damage across 108 games, solely focusing on healing teammates while playing as Rocket Raccoon. They managed to restore over 2.9 million health points in these matches and recorded nearly 3,500 assists, all while avoiding any knockouts.
