Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide
Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found within the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to defeat this formidable foe.
Locating the Lifer
The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to reach it.
The Lifer Board Game
Inside, players encounter a board game with six pieces. The goal is to connect three of your (black) pieces before the Lifer (white) does. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens corresponding maze walls and gates. The game can be exited and resumed at any time, preserving piece positions. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for debuffing the Lifer. Avoid winning before removing buffs, as the Lifer will immediately attack.
Removing the Lifer's Buffs
The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using the Stake of Imbalance, while three are permanent. The buffs are visible on a glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.
Removable Buffs (Fragility):
- Growing Loneliness: Recovers 10% Max HP per second after 2s of inactivity.
- Desire for Escape: Increases ATK by 25%, further increasing DMG by 25% every 20s.
- Impending Stalemate: Increases ATK by 20% per DMG instance (stacks up to 4 times). Stacks reset after 6s without dealing DMG.
- Decay of Time: Grants 200% resistance to all element types and increases Max HP by 25%.
Permanent Buffs (Stability):
- Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
- Endless Game: 50% reduction in Immobilization duration.
- Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP DMG in a single hit.
Obtaining and Using the Stake of Imbalance
Use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to four outer maze rooms, each containing a Stake of Imbalance. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room presents a minor challenge (defeating Tacet Discords, breaking rocks, or simple retrieval). The Stakes glow white. Place each Stake in the module near its corresponding winged statue to remove a buff. The purple line will turn yellow upon successful debuffing.
Defeating the Lifer

After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer. The fight is significantly easier. Winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!" initiates combat. Without buffs, the Lifer's attacks pose minimal threat.
Rewards for defeating the Lifer:
- First victory: Premium Supply Chest
- Second victory: Premium Supply Chest + 3 Basic Supply Chests
- Third victory: Advanced Supply Chest + 3 Standard Supply Chests
Buffs can be re-enabled for a more challenging fight, though no achievements are tied to this.
Lifer Achievements
- The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
- The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (defeat the Lifer three times).
- Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
- Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.
For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's attempts to create a line. It will eventually make a mistake.
