The cult-classic mobile game, 868-Hack, is poised for a comeback! A new crowdfunding campaign has launched for its sequel, 868-Back, promising a renewed experience of hacking cyberpunk mainframes in a roguelike digital dungeon crawler.
Cyber warfare often falls short of its exciting premise. While we envision ourselves as effortlessly cool hackers, the reality is often less glamorous. But 868-Hack, and its upcoming sequel, successfully capture the thrill of hacking. Similar to the PC puzzle game Uplink, it cleverly balances simplicity and challenge, making the complex world of digital espionage accessible and engaging. The original 868-Hack successfully delivered on this promise, and 868-Back aims to build upon that foundation.
868-Back retains the core gameplay of its predecessor: chaining together "Progs" to execute complex actions, mirroring real-world programming. However, this sequel expands the world significantly, introducing remixed and reimagined Progs, enhanced graphics, updated sound, and new rewards.
Conquering the Digital Landscape
868-Hack's gritty art style and cyberpunk aesthetic are undeniably appealing. Given the challenges faced by independent developers, supporting this crowdfunding campaign feels like a worthwhile endeavor. While there's inherent risk in crowdfunding, we remain optimistic about the project's potential.
We extend our best wishes to Michael Brough for the successful launch of 868-Back, hoping it lives up to the legacy of its predecessor.
