The director of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has expressed interest in a potential release on the upcoming Switch 2, calling the idea "could be interesting." Following the game’s successful launch, Sandfall Interactive is now exploring new opportunities—including console ports and official merchandise.
Developer Open to Switch 2 Release
The critical and commercial success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has opened new doors for developer Sandfall Interactive. In a May 2 interview with French YouTuber mistermv, Expedition 33 Director Guillaume Broche discussed how the game’s strong reception is reshaping the studio’s future plans.
"The success of the game kind of changes everything," Broche shared. With numerous opportunities emerging, the team is carefully evaluating their next steps.
When asked about a possible Switch 2 release, Broche remained optimistic but cautious. "It's too early to say," he noted, acknowledging the flood of new possibilities. "There are a lot of opportunities showing up—way too many at once—and we're still figuring out what we’ll pursue. But yeah, a Switch 2 release is definitely something that could be interesting."
Given the game’s acclaim as one of the top titles of the year and its immersive turn-based RPG mechanics, a port to Nintendo’s next handheld could be a natural fit. Fans will have to wait for official confirmation, but the door is clearly open.
No Official Merchandise Yet—Beware of Fakes
With rising popularity comes rising demand—and not all of it legitimate. Sandfall Interactive has issued a warning to fans about counterfeit merchandise, particularly unauthorized Esquie plushies being sold online.
In a May 14 post on Twitter (X), the studio clarified: "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed." They emphasized that these products often use AI-generated artwork and may be part of scam operations.
However, there’s good news for collectors and fans. The team confirmed they are actively exploring the creation of official merchandise. "We are looking into making official Esquie plushies, and we want to bring them to you as soon as we can," they shared. "Please be patient—and don’t get scammed!"
