After months of anticipation, the rumors are true! Pokémon GO players will soon encounter Eternatus in its powerful Eternamax form, marking its first-ever appearance outside main series games. The momentous reveal will occur during Pokémon GO Fest 2025: Max Finale.
Event Schedule and Details
The GO Fest 2025: Max Finale event runs August 23-24, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily, immediately following the Dark Skies event which spans August 18-23.
During Dark Skies, trainers can encounter special wild spawns including Galar region favorites Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble alongside Wooloo and Skwovet - with Shiny variants available for the latter two.
Legendary Encounter Mechanics
Eternatus Eternamax requires exclusive event access through either GO Pass: Max Finale or its Deluxe version. Unlike typical legendary encounters, this cosmic Pokémon won't appear in raids or wild spawns. Trainers get only one guaranteed encounter through a unique Max Battle adventure beginning during Dark Skies.
While additional catches aren't possible, dedicated trainers can continue battling Eternamax Eternatus on event days to farm essential Candy and Candy XL for powering up their single specimen.
Event Bonuses and Features
The Max Finale brings several gameplay enhancements:
- Increased Power Spot locations with daily refresh
- Higher Max Particle collection limits
- 2× Catch Candy on event days
- Improved Candy XL drop rates
The event also features expanded wild encounters including Kanto starters alongside Galar Pokémon, plus rare spawns like Beldum, Darumaka, and the debut of Falinks.
