Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Revealed
A new trailer for Freedom Wars Remastered showcases the game's revamped gameplay and control systems, offering a fresh look at this dystopian action RPG. The core loop remains: battle massive mechanical creatures (Abductors), harvest materials, upgrade gear, and complete challenging missions. However, Remastered significantly enhances the experience.
The game, originally a PS Vita exclusive developed in part as a response to Capcom's move of the Monster Hunter franchise to Nintendo consoles, shares a similar gameplay loop with that series, albeit in a futuristic setting. Players take on the role of a "Sinner," sentenced to complete missions for their Panopticon (city-state) to reduce their sentence. These missions, ranging from rescue operations to Abductor extermination, can be tackled solo or cooperatively online.
Remastered Enhancements:
The trailer highlights several key improvements:
-
Enhanced Graphics: Experience significantly improved visuals, with PS5 and PC versions boasting 4K (2160p) resolution at 60 FPS. PS4 offers 1080p at 60 FPS, while the Switch version runs at 1080p but at 30 FPS.
-
Faster-Paced Gameplay: Improved movement speed and new mechanics, including weapon attack cancellation, create a more dynamic and responsive combat experience.
-
Revamped Crafting: The crafting and upgrade systems have been streamlined with more user-friendly interfaces and the addition of attachable/detachable modules. A new module synthesis feature allows players to enhance modules using resources gained from rescuing citizens.
-
New Difficulty: The "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode challenges seasoned players with a significantly increased level of difficulty.
-
All DLC Included: All customization DLC from the original PS Vita release is included in Freedom Wars Remastered from launch.
Freedom Wars Remastered launches January 10th for PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC. The trailer provides a compelling glimpse into the enhanced gameplay and new features awaiting players in this remastered classic.
