When MultiVersus launched in 2022, it enjoyed explosive success, reaching a peak of 153,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, the game's online presence plummeted by 99% shortly after, prompting Warner Bros. Games to terminate the project in June 2023, labeling it an "open beta test." Despite a return in May 2024 with new updates, the game has struggled to recapture its initial popularity.
The fifth season, set to kick off in early February, could be the developers' final opportunity to rekindle player interest. This season represents a relaunch, although the developers have chosen to refer to the 2022 release as a "beta."
