Monster Hunter Wilds: Lower PC Specs on the Horizon
Console Performance Goals Unveiled
Monster Hunter Wilds will launch with a day-one patch optimizing performance on the PS5 Pro. In a recent community update (December 19th), director Yuya Tokuda and the development team discussed post-Open Beta Test (OBT) improvements. They detailed target console performance: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will offer "Prioritize Graphics" (4K/30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p/60fps) modes. Xbox Series S will run natively at 1080p/30fps. A rendering bug affecting the framerate mode has been resolved, resulting in noticeable performance gains.
While enhanced visuals are promised for the PS5 Pro version at launch, specific performance details remain undisclosed.
PC performance will naturally vary based on hardware and settings. While initial PC specs were previously announced, Capcom confirmed efforts to lower minimum requirements for broader accessibility. Further details will be revealed closer to launch. A PC benchmark tool is also under consideration.
Potential for a Second Open Beta Test
A second open beta test is being considered, primarily to give players who missed the first opportunity a chance to experience the game with some additional content. However, the improvements discussed in the recent stream will not be included in this potential second beta and will only be available in the full release.
The livestream also covered adjustments to hitstop and sound effects for increased impact, friendly fire mitigation, and weapon refinements, particularly for the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance.
Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for release on February 28th, 2025, for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
