Firaxis' Creative Director, Ed Beach, urges even seasoned Civilization players to utilize the tutorial for their initial Civilization 7 campaign. His Steam post highlights the game's significant departure from previous iterations, introducing a new Ages system (Antiquity, Exploration, Modern) with Age Transitions impacting civilization selection, legacy retention, and world evolution. This unprecedented system necessitates a learning curve.

Beach justifies the default "Small" map size, explaining that it optimizes the learning experience by limiting the number of empires encountered initially, simplifying the new Diplomacy system and ocean exploration crucial to the Exploration Age. He strongly recommends using the tutorial, even for veteran players, emphasizing its timely tips and explanations for new mechanics. The tutorial incorporates four Advisors, each guiding players through specific game aspects; Beach suggests focusing on one Advisor at a time.
Even after mastering core systems, Beach advises switching to the "Only Warnings" setting, which alerts players to potential setbacks. This feature proves useful even for the Firaxis development team.
The post-launch roadmap for Civilization 7 was revealed during a livestream, notably mentioning Great Britain's status as DLC. Civilization 7 launches on PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox One/Series X|S on February 11th, with Deluxe Edition access beginning February 6th.
