Dynasty Warriors games, known for their hack-and-slash combat, still demand a certain level of skill from players. Understanding this, Dynasty Warriors: Origins offers four distinct difficulty settings, enabling players to customize the challenge according to their skill level and desired gaming experience. As this title marks a reboot, both new and veteran players might be unsure about which difficulty setting to choose. The best setting largely depends on the player's skill and the level of challenge they seek.

All Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Settings
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, players have access to four difficulty settings, though only three are available initially. Upon starting the game, players can select from Historian (easy), Wayfarer (normal), and Hero (hard). The Ultimate Warrior (very hard) setting unlocks after completing one of the three factions' main scenarios.
While there's an achievement for completing a battle on Ultimate Warrior, there are no difficulty-specific achievements tied to completing the main campaign.
Which Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Setting is Best?
For newcomers to the action-adventure genre or those focused on enjoying the story, Historian is the ideal choice. Wayfarer suits most players, including those with limited experience in Musou/Warriors games. Fans of the series should opt for Hero initially, while seasoned Musou players might consider stepping up to Ultimate Warrior once unlocked, to maintain the challenge while tackling remaining missions, requests, and scenarios.
Players can adjust the difficulty between battles via the config menu if they find the game too hard or too easy, without impacting the storyline.
Difficulty Mode Differences in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
In Historian mode, all enemy attacks are blockable, and it's easier to stagger foes, gain bravery, and fill the Musou Gauge. In contrast, Hero mode features stronger, more aggressive enemies, with shorter windows for parries and perfect evades, and no Meat Buns dropped by enemies. Blocking depletes bravery, there's less time to influence battles, and earnings in Skill Points and gold are slightly reduced. Ultimate Warrior intensifies these challenges with even tighter parry and evade windows and significantly reduced battle earnings.
