Developer Confirms Denuvo Removal
The inZOI development team confirmed plans to completely remove Denuvo DRM from their game. Reports surfaced within the last day indicating that the Creative Studio mode demo contained this controversial anti-tamper software. Denuvo's implementation in games has sparked debate for years, with numerous studies suggesting it negatively impacts game performance.
This digital rights management technology prevents unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, significantly complicating piracy efforts.
In a March 26 Steam blog post, inZOI Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim addressed player concerns: "Our Early Access release this Friday will ship without DRM protections. We initially implemented Denuvo to safeguard against piracy and maintain fairness for legitimate purchasers. However, community feedback made it clear this decision didn't align with player expectations."
Kim also apologized for failing to disclose Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode. While acknowledging increased piracy risks without DRM, he emphasized the benefits: "Removing these restrictions allows complete customization freedom, enabling players to craft truly unique experiences. We believe this creative liberty will foster long-term engagement and innovation within our community."
Focus on Modding Support
The inclusion of Denuvo initially confused players, as the software notoriously restricts modding capabilities - directly conflicting with inZOI's promised mod support.
Kim reiterated their vision: "As emphasized during our Online Showcase, modding remains central to inZOI's design philosophy. Our first official mod tools will launch in May, supporting industry-standard software like Maya and Blender. This marks just the beginning - we'll progressively expand mod support across all game systems."
The developer announced forthcoming details about modding capabilities in a dedicated post. Krafton maintains its player-first approach, actively incorporating community feedback to refine the gaming experience.
inZOI enters Early Access on March 28, 2025 for PC, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S planned for the full launch. The official release date remains unannounced.
