Metal Gear and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima has confirmed he is still developing the PlayStation-exclusive action-espionage project titled Physint.
Although details about the mysterious title are scarce, Kojima revealed to Indiewire that he is currently "in the conceptual stage."
When asked about his current workload, Kojima explained: "I'm analyzing Death Stranding 2 player data from around the world—examining which weapons they use, the routes they take, and all related metrics. I'm also identifying minor bugs and deciding what needs fixing and where.
"I'm starting collaborative work on OD with the team, as it's a new project. Meanwhile, I'm handling Physint independently since it's still in the conceptual phase. On top of that, I have daily interviews and promotional activities like photo shoots. Frankly, it doesn't feel like Death Stranding 2 is completely finished."
While the exact meaning of "conceptual stage" is unclear, it implies Physint remains some distance from active production. This suggests we're likely to see more of his Xbox project, OD, before Physint materializes.
Speaking of OD—as recently reported (August 7), the project remains in development despite Xbox's cancellation of several other internal and external initiatives.
This update comes from Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, who stated a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed OD is 'still in development.' He shared this news following reports that Xbox had halted development on Avalanche Studios' Contraband, a collaboration announced four years ago.
In related discussion, Kojima also addressed players skipping cutscenes. Reflecting on the first Death Stranding, he noted that "cutscenes are part of the game." To encourage players to watch them, he deliberately shortened cutscenes in the sequel.
Finally, despite being the visionary behind the seminal Metal Gear series, Kojima stated he does not plan to play Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, when it launches later this month.
