Josef Fares, the visionary behind Hazelight Studios, recently shed light on their upcoming title, Split Fiction, during an interview. Reiterating previous statements, Fares underscored Hazelight's unwavering commitment to a player-centric approach, shunning live-service models and microtransactions entirely. The studio's independence remains paramount, with no plans for an IPO or acquisition by a larger entity:
"We're not going public. No microtransactions. We focus solely on delivering great gaming experiences."
In a conversation with MinnMax, Fares revealed that Split Fiction's core narrative clocks in at a substantial 12-14 hours, mirroring the playtime of their acclaimed It Takes Two. With optional missions and extra content factored in, players can anticipate a total playtime stretching to 16-17 hours.
While Hazelight's expertise lies in crafting compelling co-op experiences, Fares hinted at the potential for future single-player ventures. He also disclosed that Split Fiction's budget is double that of It Takes Two, yet the studio has opted against post-launch DLC, ensuring a complete and polished experience from day one. Split Fiction launches worldwide on March 6th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
