The first public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, giving players an early glimpse of the highly anticipated Update 7.0 and its associated patch notes. In a community post, publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive revealed that the preliminary patch notes for the PTS version include "most" of the features expected in Update 7.0. However, they cautioned that the final patch notes for 7.0 may differ, as the development team continues to refine and address bugs.
Exclusively available to PC players, the PTS for Space Marine 2 introduces several exciting new features. Update 7.0 includes a new PvE mission called Exfiltration, a new secondary weapon—the Inferno Pistol—available for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes, as well as the introduction of prestige ranks in PvE and private PvP lobbies.
Warhammer 40,000 fans will appreciate the enhanced customization options, which include new colors such as Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, along with Bulwark cloth recoloring, hands recoloring, and a 50% increase in customization rewards in PvP. The PTS also introduces new champion skins: an Imperial Fists Champion skin for the Tactical class and a Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class.
Significant balance changes are also part of this update, notably an expanded weapon arsenal in PvE, allowing all classes access to a broader range of weapons. For instance, the Assault class can now use the Power Sword without mods. Players should review the patch notes to see all the adjustments made to Space Marine 2's diverse weapon lineup.
A notable gameplay improvement addresses a common issue on the Inferno Operation. If a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage of the level, other players will be automatically teleported there after a brief delay (a notification will be given 1:30 before teleportation, with the actual teleport occurring 15 seconds later). This change aims to mitigate the griefing problem that has plagued the game since launch, where players could indefinitely block progress by staying outside the assembly area.
